Alexander Tuchman, MD

Dr. Tuchman received a BA in molecular biology and biochemistry from Wesleyan University in 2004 and MD from the University of Miami in 2005 with election to the medical honors society Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed a residency in Neurological Surgery at the University of Southern California in 2016. He also completed a fellowship in complex spine surgery at USC with a focus on minimally invasive, tumor and deformity surgery. Dr. Tuchman spent an additional year completing fellowship surgical training in complex adult and pediatric deformity surgery and cervical spine surgery under Dr. Lenke, Dr. Riew, and Dr. Lehman in the Columbia University Department of Orthopedic Surgery.

Upon completion of his fellowship in 2017, Dr. Tuchman joined the faculty of Columbia University. His clinical interests include adult and pediatric spine deformity, minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal tumors, complex spine and cervical spine surgery. He has had over 50 publications accepted as peer reviewed clinical articles, book chapters, and meeting abstracts. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the journal “World Neurosurgery”.

Dr. Tuchman’s office is open from 9-5pm, Monday through Friday. To request an appointment by phone, please call his office at (212) 305-2217. His office coordinator, Priscilla Garcia will take your call. You will be asked to fax (212) 342-7673 or mail your recent imaging (MRI, CAT scan) reports to our office for his review. It is also helpful to include a brief summary of your history and symptoms. Any question regarding insurance or coverage can be answered at that time.

Dr. Tuchman will review your reports within 24 hours and you will be contacted for an appointment or appropriate referral. Depending on the urgency of your condition, an appointment with Dr. Tuchman can be made within a few days. To assure that all patients receive a thorough evaluation and the best care in a timely manner, the patient should complete forms regarding their medical history and condition.
